Can Lash Artists Work Without Experiencing Back Pain?
You can work as a lash artist without experiencing back pain. You can make a living, but you have to work smart.
You need to know that your job involves bending over and placing your hands on the floor or on a table where you are working. If you are working at home, in your salon, or clinic, then you will also be standing up for long periods while performing your services.
It is also important to note that there are some risks associated with this kind of work if you do not take proper precautions.
What Are The Risks?
There are many risks involved with this kind of work such as:
Facial nerve damage – this nerve controls muscles in the face. If it becomes damaged then you may experience facial paralysis which can lead to serious problems with eating and breathing.
Carpal tunnel syndrome – this condition occurs when there is too much pressure on the median nerve which runs through the wrist and fingers into the arm. This condition can be very painful and symptoms include numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand muscles as well as pain or burning sensations in the fingers or thumb area
The following are a few tips to help you avoid back pain:
- Stand up straight and keep your shoulders back
- Use proper posture when sitting
- Maintain correct body alignment while working at the table
Avoid bending over from the waist when applying lashes or removing them from your lash tray. Instead, try to keep your entire upper body in line with your hips and torso. This will help keep your spine aligned properly.
